Hello everyone!

This week’s picture of the week is a long exposure shot from the State Fair of Texas.  Carnival rides are always great for photography because you can drag your shutter for quite a while and end up with some interesting geometry.

The State Fair of Texas is one of the biggest and best state fairs around (at least according to Texas) and features an absolutely enormous ferris wheel called the Texas Star.  That’s what I wanted to get a shot of at the fair this year and here it is!

For the photographers: This was an 8-second exposure at f16, ISO 100 at 24mm on my 16-35mm Sony lens.  It took a few tries to get everything right, you had to pay special attention to how the wheel was operated in order to capture a long enough spin to get the lights right.  Processed using my typical Lightroom workflow.
