I have an absolutely fantastic couple of guest posts coming soon and wanted to introduce them by resharing some of my favorite pictures from a trip to Machu Picchu a couple of years ago.

If you’d like to read the full trip report (it’s one of my favorites), here are the various articles:

Part I: Getting There
Part II: Cuzco to Machu Picchu

Anyway, let’s see some pictures!

Cuzco

The town of Cuzco is where just about every journey to Machu Picchu begins, as it did for us.  It has a lovely Plaza de Armas and, once you adjust to the altitude, has a very walkable city center.

It’s quite a trek to get to Machu Picchu, and I’m not talking about walking there!  To get to Machu Picchu we flew to Cuzco, hopped in a taxi (which had to be negotiated in Spanish) to a town called Ollantaytambo, and then took a train to another town called Aguas Calientes, after which we’d take a bus to the citadel.  But the views from the train weren’t too bad at least 🙂

Let’s be honest, this is probably the reason you clicked on this post, let’s take a look at my favorite pictures from Machu Picchu!
