I love Europe, it’s such a fantastic blend of the old and the new. Oddly enough I find it’s typically cheaper to fly to Asia, so I’ve spent more of my time there recently, but Europe (specifically Austria and Slovenia) has a very special place in my heart. I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from Europe with you!

(check out this post for a list of the camera gear I use)

Lake Bled, Slovenia

Lake Bled, first of all, sounds really metal.  What a hardcore name for a lake right?  But, rock and roll naming convention aside, this mountain lake is one of the most bucolic places imaginable.  Just south of the Austrian border, Bled is easily accessible from Salzburg or from the Slovenian capital of Ljububjlbubjblbulbubluananlajlajna.  One of the most amazing parts of Lake Bled is its island, which you’ve probably seen billions of times before.

Mont Saint Michel, France

Earlier this year I had the awesome crazy dumb idea of driving out to Mont St. Michel and back to Paris in a day.  It’s not that it isn’t doable, but renting a car in France isn’t exactly cheap and a train would’ve likely been much easier, especially after landing from a long flight.  That said, I don’t regret it for one second, my only regret is not having more time to spend at this absolutely amazing place.

London, England

I know I know, it’s London.  Fish, chips, cup o’ tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary [bad word] Poppins, LONDON.  Quotes from the movie Snatch aside, London presents quite a few photographic opportunities around the iconic buildings and amazing architecture.  This is one of my favorites even though it’s been done a hundred times.

St. Gilgen, Austria

The area around Salzburg is known as Salzkammergut, loosely translated it means “bite the wax tadpole”.  Ok that last part probably isn’t true, I don’t speak German.  But anyway, the Lake District in Austria is absolutely amazing, it’s a place I love returning to and can’t wait to see again.  It was hard picking only one picture from here but this one is from my favorite little mountain village in the world, a lovely little hamlet called St. Gilgen.

Vernazza, Italy

Italy’s Cinque Terre is full of majestic vistas, daytripping tourists, and landscape photographers.  I guess also Italian cuisine and very little publicly available wifi.  Anyway, this picture had been on my list to take for a loooooong time and I finally had my chance in May!  As luck would have it the weather was absolutely incredible, making for a beautiful sunset which added to the magic of the scene.  This is one of my favorite pictures of all time!
