I love Christmas lights.  Holiday lights, if that’s more your flavor.  Anyway, whatever you call them, I love the lights that people tend to put up for whatever holiday is in December.

One of my favorite lighting displays is Santa’s Wonderland, just south of College Station, Texas, but that’s kind of a long drive from Dallas (about 3.5 hours).  Much closer is the city of Addison, where they have a really cool light display in Vitruvian Park.  It’s free to enter and you’ll find people traipsing happily around the park pretty much all holiday season.  It’s one of those nice holiday environments where everything feels really communal.  There are a small variety of pubs and restaurants near the park as well if you’d like to make an evening of it.

The lights came on for the first time the Friday after Thanksgiving and will stay on until January 1, 2017.  Being a moron I thought traffic around the park wouldn’t be too bad Saturday night so I made my way over there.  Much to my chagrin it seems everyone else in the world had the same idea but eventually I found a parking spot, took out my camera, and got to photographying.  Instead of just one picture I thought I’d share a couple with you!

For the photographers:

I shot these with my Canon 24mm Tilt-Shift lens [Amazon affiliate link] attached to my Sony a7rII [Amazon affiliate link] with a Fotodiox adapter.  As you can see, I used the tilt function to selectively focus on specific elements in each photo and then exposed as normal.  I’m still new at the tilt function so let me know what you think!
