Picture of the Week: SMU’s Ford Stadium in Dallas

So I haven’t really traveled anywhere in (seriously) MONTHS. Definitely getting a version of cabin fever after averaging roughly and international trip per month for the past few years!  That’s no doubt been why the material on the blog hasn’t been as exciting lately, sorry!

Anyway, since I’ve spent a ton of time in Dallas lately I’ve had plenty of time to photograph my city, I hope you’ve enjoyed the various pictures of the week from there.  This week will be no different.  On the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU) lies their football stadium, named after Dallas billionaire Gerald Ford.  No, not the US President, it’s another Gerald Ford.

Usually this time of the year in Texas it’s hot and dry and it is absolutely hot right now (right around 97F/36C according to my car just now) but it’s rained a little more often this summer so far.  Since it’s been raining there have been clouds in the sky and clouds in the sky mean some great sunsets.  Last night was one of those sunsets with some really nice soft colors with a nice gradient between them.  I had my drone in the trunk of my car so I pulled over and flew it up in the air really quickly to capture this week’s picture of the week!

For the photographers: I kinda overprocessed this one on purpose.  It was shot at f5.6, 1/15s exposure and ISO 100.  The Phantom 4 Pro has a good sensor for well lit environments but there’s not really a ton of dynamic range in my experience so I got a bit creative with some of the vibrance and the saturation sliders in Lightroom.  Always happy to answer any questions!

      • its a beautiful pic. triggered a flashback from growing up in Texas but living/working in NY since I left after graduating high school in 2007. I kind of have to live vicariously through you since my generation (millennials) have to settle for camera shots (front facing too =\) otherwise everything>

  2. And I do need to thank you. You’re “Round the World 2015” was very informative and inspiring. I tried replicating the “business class” version of it and trying to share that experience with family/friends but things didn’t go as planned..but such is life.

  3. I really miss my gorilla-pod, $5.99 IR remote from amazon, and the Sony Nex-5N that I used to shoot with in college as a hobby. simpler times and much better quality than a selfie-stick.
