There are massive arguments about the best camera for traveling.  Point and shoot?  DSLR?  Mirrorless?  What do those words mean anyway?

Nikon?  Canon?  Sony?  Fuji?  Olympus?  Panasonic?  Apple?

So many options…so what do you choose?

Here’s something many will disagree with: none of the above matters.  Pick any of them.  Any camera.

THE BEST CAMERA FOR TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY IS THE ONE YOU HAVE WITH YOU.

The iPhone is the most popular camera on earth today, according to Flickr.  It’s also more powerful than just about any consumer-level digital camera 10 years ago.  Your camera is not holding you back, I promise.  There are ways you can take better pictures now, without having to throw hundreds or thousands of dollars at the latest camera and the latest lenses (even though I recently did just that).

I’m going to start a series of posts with very simple words about photography, because it’s easy to get lost in the weeds.  I’ll be telling you what I use to take pictures, how I think about a shot, and what all those dumb settings on your camera mean.

Before I get going, what questions would you like for me to cover throughout the series?

Best,
Andy
