A year ago I visited the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek with my mom (review here).  I enjoy the mountains of Colorado and am always looking for a good deal.  I’ve found that shoulder season (between summer and ski seasons) has some incredible rates at otherwise catastrophically expensive hotels, sometimes saving upwards of 80% on the in-season rate!

This year I found pretty much the exact same thing, on literally the same weekend of the year!  By following The Flight Deal I found an $87 roundtrip fare on American from DFW to Denver.  Combined with a good promo from Silvercar at Denver I thought it made enough sense to go for a nice little weekend getaway.  I told my buddy Mark about the fare and we ended up rounding up a couple of other guys to join us.  The rates at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek were $144 apiece, how could we not go?!

(note: I pride myself on my photography here at Andy’s Travel Blog, so a big part of me wanted to go again to see if I could get better pictures than last time!)

The Suite

Much to my surprise, we were upgraded to a two-bedroom suite!  I have miserable luck with upgrades at Hyatt properties so it must have been our lucky day.  We had the Mt. Lincoln Suite, room 1059, on the first level.  We would’ve loved a slope-facing view, but our view wasn’t bad at all (as you’ll see below).  The main room of the suite was luxuriously furnished without being gaudy, reflective of the ski lodge feel the PHBC goes for.

The other room of the suite was simply a connected room with two double beds in it, pretty much a “regular” room.

Second Room

As you can see, the second room was nothing to shake a stick at!

The washroom

Every good hotel room needs a good washroom and the Park Hyatt was sufficient in this area.

The big container in the middle was a copper jar which contained all manner of toiletries (in case you’re dumb like me and forget those kinds of items), it kept the counter space clean and clutter-free.

Yes Hyatt, if you offer me a really nice and comfortable robe, I’m going to wear the heck out of it.

The bathtub and shower featured their own branded Allegria products.

Initial impressions were a massive thumbs up.  The high ceilings alone were amazing, much less this view from our first morning there.

I hope you’re beginning to see why I like this property!  Stay tuned for another post about the hotel grounds and a special foodie post about the awesome breakfast buffet!
