It’s Cyber Monday, meaning more commerce will be done online today than any other day of the year.
I’ve combed through a variety of sites and will share what I think are some of the best deals for travelers in this post. Also you can reference my gift ideas post if you’re wanting some help finding something for the traveler in your life who already has everything.
[Disclaimer: many of these links are to affiliates with whom I have commercial arrangements. I may receive a small commission if you click on the links and make a subsequent purchase. The price is the same for you and helps me keep the blog going. Thanks for your support!]
As a reminder, you can get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime by clicking the following link, which gives you free 2-day shipping on all items and access to Amazon Prime Video where you can watch things like The Grand Tour: Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial
The Belkin 3-plug adapter above is a solid pick and should be in every traveler’s bag (especially if that traveler is also a photographer). It normally retails for $18-20, and it’s on mild sale right now for $16-17. For the money it’s a no-brainer, as I wrote about in my holiday gift ideas article.
Via DansDeals, this Acer Chromebook is on sale for $129.99 today from Amazon. If you’ve never used them before, Chromebooks are stripped-down laptops that run using a Google operating system. Since most, if not all, of Google’s applications are cloud-based, you end up with a low-cost laptop that is great for casual internet surfing and even getting some work done using Google Docs.
I live and die by portable hard drives. As you’ll see in my Camera Gear post I typically travel with a MacBook Air which only has 128GB of storage. The Western Digital My Passport portable hard drives are convenient and ultra-portable, only needing a USB cord to connect to your computer (others require their own power source). While I’m not sure if it’s a Cyber Monday sale or not the above My Passport 1TB USB 3.0 external hard drive is a good value at only $49.
This Anker PowerCore 10000 is the smaller USB power bank I referenced in my gift ideas article. It’s tiny, lightweight, and can charge a phone 3 times! I use these to charge my phone as well as my cameras and it’s been a lifesaver many times.
There are two main deals today. First off, via DansDeals, Tumi luggage is 50% off on Amazon today!
Available in three different colors, this carry-on is 22″ tall, which is technically slightly bigger than carry-on allowances for some airlines but I’ve never had a problem with my 22″ bag (I don’t own a Tumi, we’ll talk about my bag below).
Tumi bags are normally north of $500 but today they are on sale for half off, so the 22″ bag above can be had for $250! Other sizes (and colors) are also available, like the Short Trip (26.5″) for $257.50 and the Extended Trip (30.5″) for $297.50.
Amazon is offering free returns on these so if you’re not sure, go ahead and get one knowing that you’ll be able to return it if you don’t like it.
I own this Victorinox Avolve 2.0 22″ spinner. I’ve taken it on a few international and many domestic trips since I purchased it in June and absolutely love it. It has lots of functional space and has a semi-hard shell that is expandable if you need to cram something in there. The pockets are logical and useful and it’s been sturdy for me. If you don’t feel like spending $250 on Tumi, this is a fantastic value at only $149.
I’m the type of person who likes holding a book in my hand, but if you like e-readers, this 6″ Kindle is on sale for $49.99, almost 40% off. I’ve owned a Kindle in the past and liked it ok, but there’s just something about holding a book for me that makes the Kindles lose their appeal a bit, but I know plenty of people who could not live without theirs.
If you want to order an actual book, use discount code HOLIDAYBOOK to save $10 off book purchases over $25 (offer ends 11/28).
