I was perusing PetaPixel and saw an incredible hyperlapse video and just had to share it with you!

For those of you unfamiliar with hyperlapse, it’s similar to a time lapse video but instead of the camera remaining static while the world goes by a hyperlapse is where the camera moves around a focal point, showing both time and motion.  They take fairly precise planning and a lot of time to put together but the effect is really cool.

Anyway, a graphic design student named Matteo Archondis perused Google Maps, taking over 3000 screenshots and then labored over the post-processing for weeks to put together a really creative hyperlapse video that I know you’ll enjoy.

If you want to see probably the most amazing and unique application of this type of video you can check out one of Archondis’s inspirations, Rob Whitworth, who put together an absolute masterpiece of a film called Dubai Flow Motion, linked below:

I love videos like this which show you the world in a unique and creative way and show the passage of time in an exciting way.  I know the amount of work things like this take, which makes me all the more grateful that they executed it so well.  Anyway, check them out and enjoy your Friday afternoon!

Oh, and if you want to check out some punk named Andy who tried to put together a short time and hyperlapse film about his alma mater, check it out below 🙂
