A man aboard a Ryanair jet in Malaga, Spain, decided he had waited long enough to leave the aircraft after the short 3-hour flight from London, so he decided he would open the emergency exit door and let himself out.

Note: don’t do this.

Why should you not do this?  Well for starters it’s illegal.  Also, from a pure functional perspective, most people underestimate just how far from the ground airplane wings are.  The passenger demonstrates this once he gets to the edge of the wing, giving up his quest and sitting down near the wing edge until the captain convinced him to come back into the jet.

The passenger didn’t appear to be up to anything nefarious, so that’s the good news.  The bad news, however, is that police will be pursuing charges against the passenger.

Just a little news of the weird, happy Wednesday!
