Reunion Tower is one of the icons of the Dallas skyline.  Standing 561 feet tall its legendary “ball” on top stands out and is imminently memorable.  It’s therefore not surprising that it’s been featured in many previous Pictures of the Week (pretty much any time there’s a Dallas skyline picture you’ll see it).

This week I wanted to get a single solitary picture of just the ball on top of the tower.  It’s three stories tall and features a Wolfgang Puck restaurant and viewing decks (if you look really closely you’ll see two gentlemen on the viewing deck towards the bottom of the ball).  The sky was absolutely gorgeous last night which made for a really nice backdrop as well.

I used my Sony 70-200 f2.8 G Master lens for this shot.  It’s one of Sony’s most expensive lenses and weighs a metric ton but there’s a reason everyone says it’s worth the money: the images it produces have such amazing clarity and contrast, or “crispy” as the youths of today would call it.

Anyway, enjoy this week’s Picture of the Week!

For the photographers: I shot this, like I mentioned above, with my a7rIII and the 70-200 G Master lens.  EXIF was as follows:

  • Focal length: 200mm
  • Shutter speed: 1/80
  • Aperture: f5.6
  • ISO: 100

I had the camera on a MeFoto Globetrotter tripod just to make sure everything was nice and sharp, although I probably could’ve handheld it without ill effect.  I didn’t really do much in post to this one, it was almost ready out of the camera, just adjusted some colors and brought out some detail in the shadows.  As always, just let me know if you have any questions in the comments below!
