FlyerTalk first broke the news and it looks legit: you can now, at long last, book Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon awards via American Airlines online booking tool. Kind of.
Here’s the important part: you need to specify that you want to search all airlines, not just American.
Here’s how to do it.
At aa.com, click the Advanced/Multi-city Search button
Select Redeem Miles at the top. The next part is really important, select All Airlines at the bottom.
This should then take you to American’s old booking engine, where you’ll see both Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon awards!
This is great news for frequent flyers, as you used to have to search BA’s site to find partner availability to book with AA miles, but now it’ll be much easier.
